| hi ppl, merry xmas and a happy new years! -ed & i celebrated new years on a train to lanzhou where we arrived 2am on the first.
we also celebrated the new years with 3 new chinese believers who received after 12am. they were on the train also from xinjiang so that is super for following up in the future. -today we arrived in lanzhou, jan 1st. will go to beijing the 4th. then go standby til we come home. urumqi update: -one day at teachers college (the "normal" school) during ev a chinese person believed. -we also met a few chinese b's, two whom belong to their own fellowship, which is good to meet and get connected to. -grew in relationship w/ uygurs thru many parties, dinners, talks. personal update: -doing much better going by where the last two updates left off - spiritually & mentally. -still doing well physically, ptl. see ed for how he's doing. -decided to commit to china 2+ years: due to G0d blessing me much in being in His presence and being humble for my life and for ministry, speaking to current ministry context & to china ministry context. had a good urumqi trip, tawg time on 26th, read cross-centered life by cj mahaney, and devotions in acts 11-15. also used train time to do wrap up reflection to conclude decision. other p-rayer requests: -looking to 4 strong days in lanzhou of encouraging/strengthening b's here, fellowshipping w/ them. also doing some good preaching. romans 1:16. pray for the ch-urch/body of lanzhou. -ed & i grew a good initial bit in chemistry. may we continue to overflow in grace, Spirit, and be blessed the more likeminded & together we are. -pray for the home ministries, individuals in their winter break..looking for a blessful conference, continued Spirit-filled, cross-centered transformation of individuals and in the body in one. much affection my worlds best crew, lorin | | |
| My warmest greetings to all who have known me at UCLA from 2001-2006 and have sovereignly been a part of my life from G0d.
For some who have not heard from me in a while this is a Life Update of G0d's working in my life.
After the catch up, this is a missions letter for this Winter break.
And again, for some this is a letter of the happenings in my life, and for others, an invitation to join me in G0d's Kingdom work in any and everyway possible.
May the H0ly Spirt lead you to be as invested as He calls you to.
~my life starting this sept (this year)~
After I graduated from UCLA in 2005, G0d had me continue ministering to my disciples to show me the cycle of generational discipleship. I needed to finish with them so they could be mature and fruitful, at the same time, to raise up another generation.
Im so blessed to be woven intimately into the L0rd's family through discipleship, and it overjoys me to see G0d give me fruit from my disciples, to impart this blessing into the lives of others.
I finally experientially understand this calling to be a disciplemaker for my life.
It is spiritual parenthood. The way blood ties family members together for a lifetime, fostering spiritual relationships last an eternity.
These relationships are not merely matched to help people, but ordained by G0d to Father or mother.

Now allow me to interrupt the narrative; G0d loves us and does so by disciplining us, even intervening in our lives.
2 weeks ago, G0d took away my job which I had been at for a year and more since I graduated.
He showed me that I was asking Him to address my weaknesses and fears in being a responsible, mature adult and possessing the characters of a g0dly man.
He knew what had to be done, but there was no way I could have ever done it myself. So G0d cut me loose from my work obligations.
Since then, I have laid before G0d as consciously as I can all that is in my heart, from hopes to fears to sins to weaknesses. I really believe and rejoice in R0mans 8:28.
I believe that He wants to sincerely address each one and help me to trust Him in the hope of New Life in Chr1st alone.
Today I am surrendered to what He is trying to do - conquer me in my holiness, maturity in time management and prioritizing, and my fears. (a pryer request from me)
~calling in my life - homestay in urumqi~
G0d has led Ed Oyama to go to Uq to set up a long-term ministry of disciplemaking starting this upcoming summer, and I am considering going with him.
I've always asked G0d to give me an adventure of a life with many phases/vocations. I know He commands and authorizes us to go make disciples of all nations, potentailly Going to unreached groups.
Being honest with G0d, I called out to Him about uygurs, a group of people in western China that I have interacted with in summer missions.
Then when Ed decided to go, I acknowledged to G0d it would be a great idea to go with him.
Now, Ed has committed and I am coming to Him to see if this is the same blessing for me. Losing my job and G0d addressing maturity in my life has added support to my going.
I will decide by end of December or January. I really hope this Winter trip to Urumqi speaks clearly to this calling from Him. (a pryer request from me)
~current winter trip - scouting urumqi~
In this Winter trip, Ed and I, possibly Tony Tzeng also, will travel to Urumqi to share Christmas with the Uygurs.
We will be doing a short-term and long-term aspect simultaneously, which relate closely with one another.
We will share the gospel and the meaning of Christmas to the Uygurs and Hans in Urumqi, which will lead up to a Christmas party including the believers that are from our summer programs!
Also we will scout out the strategic place to locate our housing/office and schools nearby to reach the lost.
Then we will rejoin the others back in Beijing for New Year's celebration and finish the trip.

So for those who have read to this point, this is your Invitation from G0d to be involved.
John 6:28-29 - "Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works G0d requires?"
Jesus answered, "The work of G0d is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
The first order is to be committed to our L0rd and believing and asking for His Kingdom to be established on earth as it is in Hvn.
Here are a few specific requests to pry for Ed, I and the others (Mike Wong, Rita Law, Faith Chan, Eric Chu, Conrad Shiao, Tony Tzeng):
- the L0rd's leading and His working through the Spirt to architect His plans for Uq and the Uygurs
- to be filled with the Spir1t to have Chr1st's compassion and courage in growing in effectiveness in bearing lasting fruit (G0d is breaking me and building me up in training me physically, emotionally, mentally to allow myself to be used as effectively for fruit and for the purpose of being dead to self.)
- for good health as this scouting trip only has 2-3 of us and we'll need one another heavily and run hard each day (2 winters ago I was rocked hard in illness)
Financially, I am looking to raise $1,700 by December 10. I will continue to collect as time is needed for you from the L0rd. I will fly out on the 13th and be back Jan. 11th or earlier.
If you can pray for immediately after reading and taking a few moments to ask G0d to lift up any and everything you can give to Him, see how you can contribute and mail me a check to the address in the closing.

Its crazy how for those graduated from school, life kicks into full gear. I am not a "hero" in this story but one lifted up and justified by G0d.
For those who are in school, dwell richly in knowing G0d experientially in the Basics and follow in the steps of your disciplers, for from them the L0rd blesses.
I love you all and it is to our L0rd's pleasure and to all our's as well, for us to be sent out for the Great Commission. Let us aspire, and then having believed our L0rd, let us attain by His Sp1rit.
Let us rejoice and stand firm in the Victory of our L0rd! (1 Jn 5:4-5)

| I am a Full-Time staff at Bruin ICA and out of my accounting job. (since 11/20/06)
i was discharged on that day and became full-time staff.
i have moved on.
i am a disciple of Christ and go wherever Christ leads me to the lost.
i am a grandfather in Christ spiritually from my disciples and will follow thru on Gods promise to make me a great granddad.
i am deciding about a winter trip to China (v-wet). due wed. this week.
i am deciding what to do next academic year. long-term china commit from '07-?; decision due dec. 31, currently.
i will be winter conf. program coordinator!
i am the same person today as i was yesterday except having decreased in self and continuing to surrender self to a cross-centered life.
